About the Chancel Organ Appeal

We have been given a unique opportunity to replace our Chancel Organ. The mighty West Organ will continue to be used, but the organ we use to accompany the choir will be replaced. In 2027, a new organ built by Letourneau Organs in Canada will be installed. This will be an instrument that will delight for many generations to come.

A Cathedral tries to worship God with the best we can offer, in thanksgiving for all God gives. A new Chancel Organ will enhance music making in this City. It will provide a new instrument that will match the excellence and exceptional quality of our Cathedral choirs, who excel under the direction of Dr Joseph Nolan, and with the assistance of Mr Stewart Smith playing organ.

The estimated cost of the new organ is just over $3 million.

  • The Wright-Burt Foundation have generously agreed to match donations up $1.5 million dollars.
  • The Cathedral Square Foundation has provided $0.5 million dollars.
  • Our public appeal is seeking to raise the remaining $1 million.

A new Chancel Organ will

  • be sufficient in size and quality to match the excellence of St George’s Cathedral choirs.
  • stand out among the range of organs in the City of Perth, that can delight audiences of classical music.
  • provide an organ that can be used to train and develop the next generation of organists.

Help grow fine music making through your financial support.
